"It's a very strange movie. And it's all over the place, too.
But kids do enjoy it, and it has an inkling feeling to it. There's is something intangible about it, but it's also trying way too hard to be insightful. The message is in your face the entire time, and they are anything but subtle about it.
On top of that things happen super fast. Which can be a good thing but it leaves no room for interpretation. Along with the message, even the plotline and characters get thrown to the forefront constantly. Basically, I mean that there's no shocking moments. You know exactly what will happen next, except they make those moments as excessive as possible. Even the subplots are boring and uninteresting. They also seem to come out of left field everytime, yet your stuck watching them as they play out.
The jokes aren't funny or clever. However, the writers and animators clearly think they are. The pacing is off and they spend too much time on bad jokes. They even throw in some oppinionated jokes. Don't get me started on the candy crush reference.
Honestly, it's basically cringe incarnate. Plus every problem is caused by the main character being absolutely stupid He is the reason the phone goes crazy, so you hate him and you kind of root for the villain even though the story clearly doesn't want you to.
It does have some fun ideas on how the inside of a phone works, but the ending makes zero sense, especially when texts don't send in a phone wipe. Or the fact 1% being saved doesn't mean the rest of the 99% isn't gone forever. Still, it exists. It's the reason anticipated movies like Popeyes and others were tossed, so we all have true reasons to hate it. And that's not gonna change anytime soon."
