"🌟7/10🌟 Fascinating movie about the most celebrated #female_author in the history of #FrenchLit. It’s total 💯GIRL POWER‼️💥 First, she was a #ghostwriter for her husband & their collection of novels became runaway #bestsellers, but when he proved to be a self-serving, egotistical jerk, she finally broke out on her own & fought for creative ownership.
▪️Also of note: Colette is best known in the English-speaking world for her 1944 novella #Gigi which was the basis for the 1958 film & the 1973 stage production. ▪️Also, on a more “scandalous” note, apparently both she & her husband each had their own extramarital liaisons, but unknowingly even shared a lover, as seen in this film. #LGBTQ
Another interesting tidbit I noticed here in this #VictorianEra #periodpiece is that Collette gave us “Nipplegate” long before it was ever conceived by Janet Jackson & JT 😳 … Oops, my bad, that was “accidental,” or a “wardrobe malfunction,” right? 🙄 😉 "

"I'll give this a thumbs up; HOWEVER, a certain character in here just INFURIATED me (yuck)!!! & a 2nd character did too actually, at first... Just watch it & you'll know who I'm speaking of... Starts off in 1892, etc. After watching, I found the books on Amazon, but if you haven't read the books yet don't go there until AFTER you see this movie as could spoil things."

"Such an awe-inspiring movie about her life. My husband even enjoyed it and now I'm going to have to go on a search for some of her novels. A must see!"

"As a fan of Gigi I enjoyed this historical movie. I did feel like some of the things were skewed but overall still exciting to see such a prominent person in literary history being acknowledged!"
