"Interesting story about a delusional martyr. Kind of makes me wonder how relatable this could be to real life individuals."

"The ending of this movie was the best part! If you're looking for a slow paced, phycological, religious horror then this is for you! I haven't seen any movie like it. Would I say I would watch it again? No. But, I do think it is worth a watch. "

"Definitely a slow burn but overall a pretty good film. The plot was quite interesting and I think was an interesting take on a religious storyline. I would definitely rewatch and recommend checking it out."

"+/- Saint Maud is a mixed bag of strong, visceral filmmaking, and uneven storytelling that centers around a character that is a self-centered narcissist dealing with past psychological trauma. It is precisely this aspect that holds the movie back from being a more powerful work. In psychological horror, it helps if the audience has a thread of humanity to follow through the maze of trauma that the main character has to go through. In a movie like Midsommar, where the main character struggles with dealing with a family tragedy, we at least feel for what she is going through and can somehow resonate with her plight. In Saint Maud, the main character tries to build up her experience to feel more important than those around her. We learn that she was a nurse in a hospital and failed to revive a patient, and is dealing with trauma, but the narrative doesn't explore this human aspect of her, and instead follows her story as a caregiver and newly converted Catholic who works for the sick and dying until God reveals to her a greater purpose. We get the sense that Maud is mentally ill and that her narcissist behavior is really a product of loneliness and trauma, but there seems to be no redeeming characteristics that would make us want to follow the character for even the short length of this movie. It's like following a person who isn't pleasant to be around and that we know will meet a bad end while being powerless to stop it. This makes the craft aspect of the movie feel underwhelming. Yes, the movie is well made, with certain scenes reflecting Maud's mental state, and yes the performances are well done, but the story doesn't go deep enough into Maud's humanity to help us resonate with her on a more basic level. Sissy Spacek in 'Carrie' is a good example of how it's possible to not like a character but at the same time feel for her on a deeper level knowing certain traumatic details of her life. Technically well crafted, weak story."

"What an intense movie, it manages to be frenetic and introspective at the same time, full of dense scenes and the uncomfortable tension is present the whole time.
The performances here are stunning, the story is great, full of questions involving religion and mental health. The director always keeps the camera moving and very close, which gives it a sense of anxiety that borders on the chaotic. A great horror masterpiece."

"Don't waste your time. I kept waiting for it to get good. There are some parts that make you think it's going to get good but it doesn't. "
