"Despite how inexplicably bad the first one is, I seem to have made the wrong choice in assuming Elle was actually the good guy. In truth, this is more like a Sleepy Hollow retelling where Ichabod Crane, Braum Bone, and Catrina are ALL kinda awful in different ways…but this one doesn’t even bother with the actual Kissing Booth except justifying the title while most of it is just watching overprivileged idiots gaslighting each other. Look, I’ve seen Succession, I’ve seen Ozarks and Game of Thrones, I know how much fun it can be to watch awful people cannibalizing and backstabbing each other…the difference is those worked because the story KNEW that nobody in a position of significant power in the story was the good guy. Yet, if you want to see a movie where a girl finding out her boyfriend has made a female friend in college and treats it with the same level of gravitas as if he’s selling US secrets to the Russian government, have at it. But there’s better hate-watch content on NETFLIX *alone*. "
