"“Hate is like a virus in the blood of the Mississippi “
Till directed by Chinonye Chukwu is a heartbreaking yet necessary film. While impressive technically, what truly makes this film undeniably powerful is the outstanding acting, most notably the powerhouse performance from lead Danielle Deadwyler. Even knowing the story seeing how that whole day unfolded just made it that much more heart crushing. There was still so much about this case I didn’t know especially the fact lynching just became a federal hate crime in 2022 which is f**king ridiculous. One thing that doesn’t sit right with me is the two men confessed and were pay $4000 and moved somewhere. Then the woman is still alive to this day somewhere in Kentucky and never faced any consequences for her actions which lead to the death of a child. I also thought about the fact my father was born in Mississippi and was 8 years old when Emmit Till died down there. It’s just kind of crazy to think he was living when it was still that bad. Which makes me realize this honestly wasn’t as far back as I imagined. If he didn’t pass away a year ago I would call him and ask did he remember when this happened back then. Don’t think just because you know what happened that this ain’t worth watching because it’s still as important as it was 67 years ago."

"This movie is so heartbreaking but Mama Till is a strong woman who demands justice and doesn’t give up without a fight!"
