"Michael Keaton pulls double duty, starring and directing this top notch crime drama. Keaton gives a subtle but powerful performance as John Knox, a hitman who is diagnosed with a rare fast moving form of dementia. His estranged son comes to him for help and Knox takes the opportunity to redeem himself from the sins of his past. Knox sets his plan in motion but races against the clock as his mind quickly deteriorates. This movie is kind of a slow burn but not to the point where the viewer would get impatient. Thoroughly intriguing all the way through, and wraps up brilliantly with a satisfying but ultimately sad final act. Keaton is surrounded by a great supporting cast including James Marsden, Al Pacino, Ray McKinnon, and Marcia Gay Harden to name a few. I kind of expected more action but was surprised to realize that it wasn't needed. Very well done. 8.5/10"
"Not the action movie I was expecting but way better. An aging, genius hitman gets diagnosed with fast onset dementia needs to help his estranged son. A slow burn, character study. Keaton directs himself to an amazing performance and gets just as fantastic performances from an all star cast. Pacino, Gay Hardin, Marsden. A few slow parts along the way are worth the payoff you get. "
"An unexpected surprise. Great performance from Michael Keaton."
