"A fantasy action drama set during the Japanese occupation of Korea, with glimpses of the origin of the creature at the opening credits and prologue. The story takes depth when a man who is known as Mr Omnipotent of Gyeongseong and a father daughter pair who are searching for their wife and mother come upon dark experiments being done, for those who are fans of Kingdom!!"

"[S2 review below S1]
S1: The first couple episodes are a bit slow but the story picks up and even if just for the action scenes, this show is good (especially Han So-Hee's fighting, as expected!) The time period also made it more exciting as it's set at the brink of Korea gaining its independence from Japan, which means the cast also go back and forth between the Korean and Japanese languages. As for the ending, before the shows release it was known that they were already planning a second season, so my expectations for how they'd leave us hanging were quite high, yet this cliffhanger was nothing I could've seen coming, and I'm glad. Looking forward to the second season! 8/10☘️
S2: contains S1 spoilers! I was pretty excited about this one, because I knew this season was planned since the beginning and the time jump to present day seemed so crazy like how can they explain that? Well, it wasn't that crazy and in fact it was more boring than I anticipated. I thought the first ep was good and the last episode was great but felt like the middle was too much of the same. It seems there is a S3 expected? Not sure if I'll watch it honestly. 6.5/10💧"

"It was so hard giving this is a 2. I really wanted to like it and I'd stopped it and went back..but it's a no from me...I love all the actors and lord knows i love my Korean dramas and my Korean horror but not this much together...I felt like this was more a drama with chunks of monster horror thrown in to sate us...its mainly trying to tell a sweeping rich tale of Japanese occupation of gyeongsang (today: Seoul) and its peppered with horrible experiments that were done on innocent korean captors but this should not have been done together ..."

"This show was fantastic. So many genres packed into one show. It takes place in 1945 in Gyeongseong, which is now Seoul, South Korea. The Japanese are in full occupation of the city and treat the locals like dirt. They run a hospital which is actually just a front for wartime experiments going on in the lower levels.
A handsome young man (reminds me of a young, Korean Cary Grant) runs a pawn shop and is quite wealthy because of it. His main goal in life is to survive. He's a dapper and suave sophisticate who knows everything that happens in Gyeongseong. He is the man to go to if you need anything or to find someone.
A young woman and her father have showed up in town looking for someone who has been missing for 10 years. Her path crosses our dashing non-hero and it's dislike at first sight. Kinda.
Then there's the Creature. My, oh my, what a fascinating creature it is. And completely terrifying. There is no shortage of gore here. But the human monsters are the ones you end up hating.
I loved this show so much but I admit I'm worried about season 2 which comes out in two weeks (September 27, 2024) and is set in current day Seoul. One of my favorite characters in the show was Gyeongseong itself. It had a life of its own and was an entire presence. The sets and clothing were all so interesting. I don't know how I'm going to feel losing that character next season. Even so, I'm so excited to see what's coming. For now, this series is a solid 5/5*s!"

"I really loved this. It may take a bit to get going but once it does you won't want to quit. I'm glad to know it's been renewed for a second season after that ending!"

"My thoughts on this may be updated as I still have season 2 to watch; however first impressions for season 1 was great.
As someone who intakes a lot of tv/movies/books etc the story line was actually rather predictable for me, someone else may think otherwise but I called most of the twists that would happen within the season by about episode 2. Romance is subplot here but well done might I add. The characters are brought to you in a way you’re routing for them or maybe hating them depending who. This has a great cast of South Korean Actors who I love and excited to see where season 2 goes. Trigger warnings: Political / racial oppression , Human experiments, violence as this is marketed as a horror drama. "

"This kdrama was so sad, but the plot was so swag. And I found it when I was looking for a kdrama thats a little weird with supernatural creatures and a tiny bit of romance. Perfect find. Similar to sweet home!"

"Netflix needs to announce the next season already. It was so good, horror, action, romance, fighting the powers at be- type series. I love it despite the fact that it ended on such a cliffhanger and I cried.🤧"
