Margaret Hale is a southerner from a country vicarage newly settled in the industrial northern town of Milton. In the shock of her move, she misjudges charismatic cotton mill-owner John Thornton, whose strength of purpose and passion are a match for her own pride and willfulness. When the workers of Milton call a strike, Margaret takes their side, and the two are brought into deeper conflict. As events spiral out of control, Margaret - to her surprise - begins to fall in love with Thornton...

"If you watched the 2005 Pride and Prejudice and thought to your self I want this flavor again I’d say this is a good way to start. Didn’t fit the times lead with a grump love interest that you just find socially awkward after awhile, fall in love and with some nice smoldering angst in mix for so spice. 🌶"
"This was such a good show! The environment and how important it was to the story made this distinct from Pride and Prejudice despite the similar plots. I loved how deeply you felt for each character and how there really was no "hero" or "villain," just a bunch of people doing their best to survive!"
