"I do enjoy the idea of the show and the experiment itself. It's giving prisoners a unique opportunity to create order out of chaos, and overall, they did pretty good.
Dealing with inmates cannot be an easy task, but having inmates take responsibility for each other can actually be more beneficial. Because they can understand each other much more than anyone else - the struggles, the failures, and the world they currently live in.
Instead of 23:1 every single day, inmates need to be taught to see life from a different life so they start to imagine a different path for themselves. I think the freedom they gained in the experiment allowed for that - an opportunity to breathe, rethink their actions, and be within a community with some commonality.
Similar jail systems work outside of the US for a reason. They give people a chance; even when it might not seem like they deserve it.
People can surprise us in the best of ways. And sometimes, another chance is all they need to start to turn things around
Seemed like most of them wanted to change their lives around, but they just didn't have the proper tools to chisel their way out of the mess they created. Most prisons should provide that space for them to grow and develop themselves. That's where the US fails."
"Interesting social experiment, not great but weirdly keeps your attention"
