"4.25⭐️ Not quite the perfection of the first one for me but the story epically and satisfyingly is moved forward, the scope and scale even more expansive, the pace faster, the action bigger and the stakes higher.
Overall it doesn’t quite effortlessly flow or is as cohesive as the first. And the massive white savior vibes, which obviously comes from the books but still feels a bit pat and uncomfortable, combined with the disappointingly forced direction of Paul and Jessica’s story arc took something away for me.
Cinematically though .. in every way an undeniably spectacular work of art. "
"Although it's been a little while since I've watched part one, I feel like Dune Part 2 is better, but not by much. I'm not familiar with the books so my opinion is based solely on the movies themselves. Cinematically beautiful with amazing visuals, both CGI and conventional, the world building is a phenomenal feat. That being said, I can't put my finger on the reason why I didn't love it. Perhaps it's that the movie takes itself too seriously. Everything is so solemn all the time, with no room for the slightest bit of humor. Or maybe it's because I found it hard to hear some of the dialogue as people spoke in hushed tones one moment, only to be shouting in the next. Or it could be that I found most of the characters to be boring. Whatever the reason, I'm sorry that I didn't like it more, I really wanted to. Maybe I'll grow to appreciate it more some day, but for now... 7/10"
"Dune: Part One was brilliant, but Dune: Part Two blew it out of the water. From the moment Florence Pugh’s narration started at the beginning to the final shot of Zendaya gearing up to ride a sand worm, I had chills. You can tell all the love and care that Denis poured into every element of this film and it more than paid off. The film was just magic and I can see it sweeping at next year’s Oscar’s. At the very least, Timothee Chalamet is a serious contender for best actor. His performance as Paul cemented him as one of the best actors of this generation. There is so much else I could rave about but honestly, it’s rendered me speechless by awe. "
"I’ve never read any of the books or seen the other movies except part one here. The trope is as old as time but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a messianic movie to this degree. Just interesting. This is a serious movie set in a horrific world. The acting is grade A across the board. Timothee and Zendaya shocked me with how good they are. The plots are really cool. But what sets this apart is the entire third act is some of the most epic action scenes ever. Didn’t feel like almost three hours. There are six books and these two just cover the first one. This series has a chance to be one of the historic ones. Another aside, I watched the first one last night. Timothee’s difference of appearance, just age-wise between the two, is shocking. "
"A realistic continuation of the first well done movie. This one doesn’t disappoint."
