In the chaotic aftermath of World War II, American college girl Charlie St. Clair is pregnant, unmarried, and on the verge of being thrown out of her very proper family. She's also nursing a desperate hope that her beloved cousin Rose, who disappeared in Nazi-occupied France during the war, might still be alive. Thirty years later, haunted by the betrayal that ultimately tore apart the Alice Network, Eve spends her days drunk and secluded in her crumbling London house. Until a young American barges in uttering a name Eve hasn't heard in decades, and launches them both on a mission to find the truth...no matter where it leads.“Both funny and heartbreaking, this epic journey of two courageous women is an unforgettable tale of little-known wartime glory and sacrifice. "Love historical fiction that celebrates real life heroes. The female spies of the Alice Network were heroes and this fictionalized story does a nice job of bringing it to life!"

"Really good historical fiction book about WWI and II time period. Follows the story of several women spies who risked their lives for their country. Although the book is fiction, many characters are based on real people and this is a story from that time that is lost. "

"A good story peppered with French and just the right amount of historical context so as not to be boring. The story follows strong female characters in unconventional roles, but it’s not quite literary, more so romantic - at once mentioning Baudelaire and then cheesy with melodrama. The plot is a formulaic wild goose chase that fleshes out themes of loyalty and redemption and unplanned pregnancy. There were a few words and sentences that I didn’t understand, as if in need of editing. "

"Love this book! I love how it jumps from character to character, and I love the depth of the characters. Evelyn is my favorite! And what a great ending... If you love spy books, you'll love this one."
