Inventor Flint Lockwood creates a machine that makes clouds rain food, enabling the down-and-out citizens of Chewandswallow to feed themselves. "This is a very strange cultural landmark, when this movie came out it got the Illumination style treatment and was EVERYWHERE; posters, blankets, games, sequels. All of it now (mostly) forgotten. It's a cute kids film, and I do recommend watching it at least once, but it's not all that special. "

"People praise Sony animation for the Spiderverse movie but this and Hotel Transylvania were proof that they were going to be a force to be reckoned with creatively. And just like HT this movie wasn’t afraid to embrace the exaggeration that cartoons allow. The highlight for me was the Officer Earl Devereaux voiced by Mr. T of all people; both his voice and the animators work really bring him to life when his neck elongates, he’s hoping and flipping around the screen, putting his entire body into his yelling/accusations/commands. This movie is filled with that funny body language that only animation could allow and I love it for that. "
