This film is like no other I've ever seen, even the first. It's a highly political film disguised as a BBC nature documentary. 50% of the film is about the needs and struggles of family, and how we need to protect nature and others. The other half is a film reel of one of the most beautiful and well crafted worlds I've ever seen. This is what a blockbuster should be; Massive in scale, with a simple but important message, with a ton of interesting visuals and an amazing cast of characters."

Kinda SPOILER but Jake and Neytiri have 4, we’ll 5, kids and we get to see them get into trouble in another part of that wonderful world, the land of the Sea People. Really fun. On an aside, first movie I’ve seen in 3D since it first came out, what 10 years ago? It’s gotten a little better but I’m still not sold. Does it severely mute colors for anyone else?"

Thanks to quick pacing and a seemingly never-ending score, I was constantly engaged with something new that characters were exploring. Fascinating underwater creatures, wild action sequences that felt visceral and real, and heartfelt moments of connection between parent and child. I was left wanting more depth from Kiri but I’m sure that will come in Avatar 3 next year."

Although I'm not a huge avatar fan, I think partially because the Avatars still look too CGI and not convincing enough to look close enough to realistic, and I prefer a movie with mostly real props and characters. But relative to everything else CGI in the movie industry these movies take the lead. Excited to see what it will look like when the next one comes out... In another decade."

What was the reason colonel to be so evil? His need for revenge is so strong that he’s okay with being something he hate? Even after he bond and ride with the animal? So strong that he’s willing to hurt children? And the last thing is where was the water people go after the big third act? Where did they all go? They just left their daughter with them? Oh and also, last last one, the chief was like “killing leads to more killing and that’s not the way of our people” and yet after ONE whale died, he suddenly was like WE KILL! And it’s not the first time a whale has died by the sky people. Why the one 180?"

caleigh_knight shared a tip "It was worth the wait! I went into this movie with zero expectations and avoiding every trailer out there. A few were thrown on me from previews or unskippable ads but I turned my head and plugged my ears. I knew I'd want to see this long expected movie. Then I did. I am beyond glad I did too. It was good. It acted like a good sequel. Not only does this film stand on its own it gave you more of what you want. I watched it with two others, (we each have varying preferences) and we all agreed it was good. The visuals were stunning, expansion of the universe made sense, characters continued to intrigue you, returning characters grew in good ways, I love the kids, and we got more of what we loved in the first. However, I did not recently watch Avatar before watching this. It was on a whim that we went and saw it so none of us had the chance to recently watch the movie. We all of course remembered and knew the original but had not watched Avatar before seeing that. So, I can't vouch for watching them back to back yet. Now it was a tad predictable. When I said that in the past it meant I could tell how the ending would come about and see certain outcomes while also predicting how they would go towards that. This movie wasn't to that extent. Just like the first one you explore the world of course. Yet you also have the overarching story to see. But the only part I truly predicted were certain characters paths. I won't say more to not reveal anything. The ways the characters went about things or how the story continued was a bit shocking. Honestly I was entertained and the suspension of disbelief remained steady and strong throughout. I even laughed a few times. Not at times that had jokes but times that were just funny. For instance, (without spoiling) near the end when son 2 kicks one machine under toucan. I laughed and so did a few others. There were just some funny moments mixed in with the story. Overall everyone in the theater seemed to enjoy it and I know I did too."

Truly a feast for the eyes as this visually stunning epic tale comes to fruition. I loved how the island tribes on the Na'vi have physically evolved to adapt to a life around water, from a thicker fin like tail to the fins on their forearms. The movie is visually perfect, with tons of action, drama, and a bit of humor thrown in to keep the audience engaged through its runtime of over 3 hours. But at it's core, this movie is about family and has some really touching moments. One of my favorite movies of 2022. I give it an A+."

I understand why some people may not like it because of the length, but I think that there was reason behind the long movie. Since they had to leave their home to go to a new part of the world there had to be a lot of world building for the people of the sea. We had to learn the new lifestyle, characters, and beliefs of the people. They did a very good job implementing that. There were so many amazing subplots going on with all the characters and they dove into each one of them. Each character felt well rounded and they made it so that I actually cared for them. I also enjoyed the antagonists in this film and how it picked up from where the last one ended. I cried a few times in this film because the music and some of the thing I wasn’t expecting to happen in this film. If you know you know. The action scenes were phenomenal and really well done. They ended it really well for a perfect set up for another movie. I’m excited to see what that one brings and what the characters will have in store. Hopefully we won’t be waiting too long for the next film because I adore this Avatar universe so much!"

This is not only just a movie about blue people living on another planet, which I believe many believe that’s the only purpose of the film. I think a lot of people over look the message Jim(James Cameron) is also presenting in the film which is conserving the planet of which you live on. To protect it. To protect its creatures. If you take from the land, you should give back. And most importantly is to preserve. Many might not know but I am an somewhat of an earth nerd.. I love the trees, ocean, animals. In my past education I have dedicated all my papers to the subject of the earth/preservation/deforestation/ and etc. The idea of preserving lands I am highly for. I often while driving day dream of what the land use to look like before people have torn up the land. What I am trying to get at is there is so much more to this film than what you may like to believe. The character Kiri! Never have I ever felt so connected to a character before! To me she sees beyond what others may see. Though at first she’s not happy about leaving their home in the forest, she learns to slowly enjoy it/accept where she is. I simply can’t express how I love this character and how I see myself in her. Well after this long idk I guess I would call this a review ? To me it seems more like I’m ranting about how I love Cameron’s ideas/films. This is an film franchise that I would die to work on, but it probably not will happen. The graphics were amazing and aesthetically pleasing for depicting a sci-fi fantasy movie world. I really wanted to learn how Kiri was made (they don’t really touch on it and I kept hearing her name pronounced ‘kitty’), and they don’t say the kids names enough so I didn’t know which child was which aside from Kiri and the smaller one called Tuk (don’t know how to spell it and didn’t Google it). I don’t normally like certain movie sequels since most of them seem a bit rushed, and this one is even 12 years after the original. However, despite that, I genuinely loved the film. It was 192 minutes, and I found myself engulfed the entire time (even though I normally have a hard time sitting still). The beginning moved a little slow, since it was mainly storytelling, but once everything was explained and the action started, it was gorgeous. I watched it in 3D IMAX, and it was absolutely worth it. It was so vibrant and beautifully made. And just like the first movie, I desperately want to travel to that world and bask in the bioluminescent scenery. I honestly like the location in this movie a little bit more than the first. With how it left off, I’m assuming there may be a third movie, which I will HAPPILY watch when it comes out (hopefully it’s not going to take another 12 years😂). If you haven’t seen this movie yet, I HEAVILY recommend that you watch it in 3D, and even IMAX. It might be a little more, but the visuals are worth it."
