"This was an good science fiction thriller. I don't think it is fair to say is a terrible movie as many critics have. What I DO say is that this movie is VERY different from what I expect from M. Night Shayamalan, who usually directs horror or thriller films. Perhaps that is why there is such dislike from critics. The plot of the movie is very thin. The beginning narration from Jaden Smith is some of the worst voiceover I have heard in a feature film. It is simply lazy. The film begins after humans have rebuilt their civilization after surviving something horrific. The storyline is about Will Smith, a decorated general in the military, and his family. He takes his son on a seemingly routine mission that isn't explained well. Disaster strikes, and then the movie picks up steam. There are a few action sequences that are genuinely suspenseful and tense, but I feel that the movie and its characters could have been more fleshed out. The result makes me wonder if this movie suffered from bad editing. Bottom line: this is a good movie, not a great one. But it is not as terrible as some suggest."

"A sci-fi survival film as a ship on its way home carrying an enemy crashes on Earth, with the crew killed during the crash it’s only the father and son left to find a way home. Worth watching as earth isn’t as it was since nature has taken back the planet after the mass exodus of humans to their new planet of Nova Prime!"
