"🙃 Definitely full of goofy schtick, as you’d expect with Adam Devine at the helm of this #action-#comedy-#romance-#crime caper, and I actually chuckled out loud a few times in spite of my better judgment 🤭 (🎬 I laughed at the scene where he’s getting tattoos with his in-laws).
▪️BOTTOM LINE: Yeah, there’s salty language & almost endless sexual innuendo (but neither of those bother me), and it’s not the best/most comical movie by any means, but I’m giving it 3/5 stars just because it’s meant to be silly, lighthearted fun (FOR ADULTS, #R_rated) & it had a good supporting cast, it’s a quick 95 minutes, it’s mildly funny, & it had a happy ending 😊 "
"I can't say that I'm a fan of Adam Devine, he walks a very fine line between super annoying and mildly amusing. That being said, I tolerated his usual buffoonery for the sake of the rest of the movie, which turned out to be kind of fun. Ellen Barkin and Pierce Brosnan are good in their roles, but I really enjoyed Richard Kind and Julie Hagerty as Devine's parents, they were hysterical. This ended up being pretty funny for the kind of movie that it is and a quick watch when you're in the mood for something silly. 7.5/10"
"This was actually decently funny, I reached a point where I thought I'd give it four stars cause I had some good laughs. But I docked it down to three stars for two reasons: first, they relied waaaay too much on sex jokes, which to me is just as annoying as stand-up comedians that rely on f-bombs to get laughs. And second, I don't want to be grossed out to the point of covering my eyes in disgust. It's a comedy, I'm here to laugh, not gag. Even in horror films I don't cover my eyes, I'm watching for the thrill of getting scared. Why is being gross necessary?"
"Cute, cheesy rom-com. There is nothing to write home about, but it makes a good date night or family night movie. Featuring Nina Dobrev, Adam Devine, and Pierce Brosnan with a tiny James Bond Easter egg. Your typical in-laws hate the boyfriend movie where he has to prove himself, with a bank robber twist. "
"Decent comedy, but it was enjoyable. "
