"boy i just LOVE to watch paul giamatti mope around. especially when it’s directed by the king of cozy, alexander payne. i love the friendship at the core of this thing, it’s truly so well written and easy to understand despite its complexities. payne’s directing style is so unique and unmistakable, the man LOVES a fade (i’ve never been too fond of them but it hits different when he uses them). overall a really fun and sad and poignant journey in this one, just another showcase of excellence by the payne & giamatti combo.
