"One of my favorite historical series! Right up there with Selfridges and Downton Abbey. "

"Too bad there is only 2 seasons of this series but really that was enough. Loved it! If you like period dramas like Downton Abbey, etc you will like this. I think it’s in the late 1800’s in England. Instead of being built around a family with servants, the plot is built around the people working at a store. The owner is striving to make it the biggest and best department store. The very last episode ties all the plots up in a neat little bow. "

"A lot like Selfridge to be honest."

"It was inspiring and captured the period drama feel in between. The plot isn’t too hard to follow or weighs too heavily. I’d recommend if you want something short and simple"

"Based on Au Bonheur des Dames by Emile Zola. If you've ever worked retail and enjoy period pieces this may strike you as especially novel. There's a charming focus on working class characters like in Downtown Abbey, but the intricacies of the drama are not as complicated so it's a light watch. There are only a couple of seasons so it's something you could binge in no time. "

"As a fashion history nerd, this show was a breath of fresh air in a big pile of historical dramas that are ok with costuming. They followed yearly trends! I was absolutely gleeful. Acting is good, but I was here for the House of Worth dresses. 🤩"
