The worldbuilding, new characters, the plot and continuation of the overarching one, and the plot twists were all craftily created and used to make the good story even better. <br/><br/>This went through so many plot twists! I couldn't even guess the true ending of the book because of them. There were many instances where I was surprised at what was happening simply because I didn't expect it. This was epic, even down to the last sentence."

This book felt so much more mature than the first two - the characters grew, the world was expanded and fleshed out, and the plot became infinitely more interesting. Absolutely loved it. The climax of the book was excellently written and made me want to die of pure excitement. I also enjoyed the new introduction of the witches' storyline as it gives you more depth and characters to get invested in. It's been a little bit since a book has made me feel like this. ❤️‍🔥"

"Oh.this.book. As I write this review, I understand people may come at me, as this is a loved series and a very well-known author. However, this book was truly the death of me. Typically, this year I have read a new book every two to four weeks. Heir of Fire took me 3 LONG months. I found this story to be so incredibly slow. I do enjoy a good slow burn while reading romance novels, but this just felt like reading in slow motion, and it was torture. This is not to say there wasn’t good story writing, because there were small pockets when the story would pick up, but then it would fizzle back down and I would begin to lose interest once again. I will say though, chapters 64 and 65 carried the whole book. Those 14 pages had more action, love, suspense, hurt, and lines drawn in the sand than the rest of the book combined. Throughout reading, you will get more of a backstory and understanding of Celaena’s past. You’ll discover the driving force behind her stubbornness and why she seemingly wants to punish herself and put herself through bad situations. In addition, you’re introduced to another important character who is given the task of training Celaena to control her powers. She will continue to question herself, her actions, and what her heart wants, but in the end, you’ll watch her character make some major leaps into the right direction. In Heir of Fire, you have multiple storylines happening simultaneously. The majority of the story you will hear of Celaena’s adventures in Wendlyn as well as Chaol and Dorian’s struggles in Rifthold. However, randomly you will also read glimpses here and there of Manon in the Ferian Gap. Manon’s story almost felt like the filler episodes you would get every now and then while watching your favorite TV series. While it sometimes is interesting, it does not seem to contribute at all to the overarching story being told. Maybe her adventures will be more impactful and relevant in the coming books, but for me, it seemed like fluff. "
