All she wanted was the truth, but she'll wish she never found out. When Catherine wakes up alone one morning, she thinks her husband has gone for a run before work. But Simon never makes it to the office. His running shoes are by the front door. Nothing is missing - except him. Catherine knows Simon must be in trouble. He wouldn't just leave her. He wouldn't leave the children. But Simon knows the truth - about why he left and what he's done. He knows things about his marriage that it would kill Catherine to find out. The memories she holds onto are lies. While Catherine faces a dark new reality at home, Simon's halfway around the world, alive and thriving. He's doing whatever it takes to stay one step ahead of the truth. But he can't hide forever, and when he reappears twenty-five years later, Catherine will finally learn who he is. And wish she'd stayed in the dark.

"I really enjoyed the format of the book. Each chapter held 3 sections, Catherine in the past, Simon during the same past timeline, and their reactions now as they hear each other’s stories. This helped easily connect the very differing dual timelines and perspectives.
Marrs did an amazing job of character development, especially Luciana, whose story was another emotional journey. The main characters are flawed individuals who you feel lots of different emotions about as they try to grow through grief, love, and loss.
🚩Includes some very heavy, emotional topics in a very raw and real way. Parts held very detailed accounts of rape, having cancer, carrying for a loved one dying of cancer, and a baby drowning.

"I hated Simon every second, it's a good book but I never managed to empathize with Simon, for every bad thing that happened to him I was happy and I was even happier when Catherine got all the good things she deserved"

"I wasn't a huge fan of this book. It took me a long time to get through it. Somedays I had to force myself. I wanted to see the ending and how it played out. It wasnt a bad book I just wasn't real crazy about it."
