Whatever it is I like it. Anne Hathaway, growing more ethereally gorgeous as time goes by, is such a fantastic actress. She really elevates the material to greater emotional heights. And Nicholas Galitzine..not too shabby himself on most levels. MUCHO crazy chemistry with these two! Plot wise I think we all know where this goes. It’s not rocket science. But besides a lightly dramatic bubbly ride, it worked for me that here is a mature woman, portrayed as fully realized and only mildy unrealistic at that. It’s Hollywood..realism is a fantasy. However also refreshing, the mother-daughter relationship isn’t written with the stereotypical adversarial dynamic. Plus 💯% accurate showing the hypocrisy and gender double standard in culture and media. But still..a frothy fantasy after all. Impossibly cute meet-cute ✅ Impossibly adorable (Laurel Canyon!) house ✅ Impossibly hip SILVERLAKE (always CAPS ~ we get it) art gallery ✅ The only thing missing is the impossibly cute dog. No matter. YES..more of this please! "

"Anne Hathaway can do no wrong in my eyes and I could watch Nicholas Galitizine watch paint dry and I would be enraptured, but together??? Magical. This script is not the strongest (though Solene has a few moving monologues), but it completely thrives off of Hathaway and Galitizine’s chemistry. It was steamy and cute and utterly romantic. It did have its cringey, second hand embarrassing moments (with the Wattpad Harry Styles fan fiction source material, how could it not?), but I found myself loving this nonetheless. Plus, every song August Moon performed was a certified bop. Call me a Moonhead! Cute romance, entertaining time!"

"This is not your average cheesy/too cute romcom. This is a really good adult dramatic fantasy romance, directed by the guy who did the terrific The Big Sick. It’s sexy as hell and Anne Hathaway gives a wonderful performance. Fantastic soundtrack, aside from the boy band stuff. But the costar does his own singing so they really promote that. He was really good in the role though. It was good. "

"The beginning was kinda cheesy, but it does get better throughout. Adding on to this, my main complaint is that how this relationship starts feels quite unrealistic, and I'm not even referring to the meeting. It made it hard to get invested in the relationship, especially cause I didn't agree with how the characters acted the whole time. The ending was surprisingly done really well though, and that boosted my rating a bit, 7/10🥪"
