Top Gun: Maverick

"This made me sad and it made me feel old, but it was a good movie. Tom Cruise creeps me out but this character was one of my favorites from the days when he didn't. Val Kilmer returns and it made me weep knowing how he's fought cancer. I love Val. Recommended, especially to fans of the original. "

"This is a good movie with good acting. The only other seasoned actor is Ed Harris, who we only see briefly, and Jon Hamm. The young aviators have as many lines as in the original movie. There is a cheesy romance just as in the original. I really missed the upbeat music from the original, it really set the mood of the film. The mood here is much more reflective. This is definitely a movie about Maverick: redemption, guilt, his past and future. Where this movie really shines is the aerial photography, and mission training scenes. Although this is a great send-off for the series, I DEFINITELY like the original movie much better. There had been nothing like it before. Judge for yourself! 😉"

"It's a Tom Cruise movie, with a fair amount of modern cheese. It looks great, it's easy to digest, and it has a decent story. What I really like about this movie though, is how small it feels. There are maybe 50 people in this whole film, most of those 50 being extras. It was a nice breath of fresh air for a film to forgo world ending stakes. "
