A B&N's YA Book Club Pick * Walmart Buzz Pick * Indie Next Pick * Book of the Month Club YA Box A "joyously, riotously queer" (Kirkus) young adult fantasy from debut author Ryan La Sala, Reverie is a wildly imaginative story about dreams becoming reality, perfect for fans of Adam Silvera and Laini Taylor.A few weeks ago, Kane Montgomery was in an accident that robbed him of his memory. The only thing he knows for certain is that the police found him half-dead in the river. The world as he knows it feels different—reality seems different. And when strange things start happening around him, Kane isn't sure where to turn. And then three of his classmates show up, claiming to be his friends and the only people who can tell him what's truly going on. Kane doesn't know what to believe or who he can trust. But as he and the others are dragged into increasingly fantastical dream worlds drawn from imagination, it becomes clear that there is dark magic at work. Nothing in Kane's life is an accident, and only he can keep the world itself from unraveling.Reverie is an intricate and compelling LGBT young adult book about the secret worlds we hide within ourselves and what happens when they become real. "Still not quite sure what a reverie is but I enjoyed this book enough. "

"It’s fun and it’s camp. Unique plot, could very well see this being adapted into a mini-series or movie. I do wish we went more into the characters, but you still end up caring for them nonetheless."

"3.5 ⭐️
I think it had potential but it just didn't pull through. The prose was often confusing and all in all just too wordy and complicated. This was a book I had to use all my brain power to understand, which got boring and annoying after a while. I feel like he was going for a whimsical feel but it just doesn't slap. To put it in the simplest terms I can think of, he says a lot in order to say nothing at all. "

"***spoiler warning**** i was very sad that the drag queen became the villain ! the drag and trans community are and have been extremely villianzed by society !! even to the point where they're called monsters (if u read the book im sure u can see where i'm going with this statement...)this just really rubbed me the wrong way especially as someone apart of the trans community. like i said i really wanted to like this book but at the end of the day i just can not. "Ooo I honestly loved all of it so much, it’s one of my favorite books of all time. But when they are trapped in all the reveries and all parts with the older lady lesbians were some of my favorite. What about you? "

"A page turner. Fantasy, combat, magic, character driven, big twist, romantic side plot, and fantastically queer ❤️ I don’t usually do YA books but I made an exception for this one. It’s just great."

"Loved this book, it was very thought-provoking but not in a dystopia, everything is hopeless kind of way, and the writing was poetic and beautiful. Also, it was so casually queer, which was nice to see. "

"When I tell you that I adored this book? I love that this story has a queer mc and side characters, and is a story that he doesn't have to "embrace who he is" for power. While embracing yourself is a fundamental part of the queer experience, just living and being a person also is. "
