From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Things We Never Got Over Dominic was staring at me like he couldn't decide whether he loathed me or wanted to French kiss me. Dominic I got her fired. Okay, so I'd had a bad day and took it out on a bystander in a pizza shop. But there's nothing demure about Ally Morales. She proves that her first day of her new job...which just happens to be in my office....And I can't fire her, because it's my mother the CEO who hired her...technically, Ally doesn't work for me, and she makes it clear she doesn't have to listen to me either. So maybe her colorful, annoying, inexplicably alluring personality brightens up the magazine's offices that have felt like a prison for the past year. Maybe I like that she argues with me in front of the editorial staff. And maybe my after-hours fantasies are haunted by those brown eyes and that sharp tongue. But that doesn't mean that I'm going to be the next Russo man to take advantage of his position. I might be a second-generation asshole, but I am not my father. She's working herself to death at half a dozen dead-end jobs for some secret reason she doesn't feel like sharing with me. And I'm going to fix it all. Don't accuse me of caring. She's nothing more than a puzzle to be solved. If I can get her to quit working here, I can finally peel away all those layers. Then I can go back to salvaging the family name and forget all about the dancing, beer-slinging brunette. Ally Ha! Hold my beer, Charming.

"I really like this book and the title (it’s so fitting). Dominic and Ally really embody the enemies to lovers, workplace romance, little bit of an age gap, and more tropes. Between Ally’s strength and kindness and Dominic’s consideration (and his bossiness), I couldn’t get enough. I love the slow burn and I think the story and the chemistry really played out well. The rawness felt so real and also, a huge shoutout to the side characters: Faith, Dalessandra, Ally’s dad (and his nursing staff), Christian, Harry, Mrs. Grosu, Mr. Mohammad, etc. They are literally amazing and really well-written. Lucy Score is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors; I can’t wait to read more of hers!"

"I really have mixed feelings about this book. It is written beautifully and the characters really come alive and there is an excellent plot. However, it is very morally grey in my option. Ally is fiercely independent, which is excellent, however, when Dominic becomes infatuated with her, she constantly is on the receiving end of his good deeds. I don’t think Dom is bad overall, but this feels manipulative nonetheless. Since it is written in dual perspective, Dom’s POV creeps me out even more with how obsessed he is. Sure, Ally mostly likes him back and certainly teases him, but the power dynamic Dom fights so hard to not be a part of… he kinda becomes a less creepy version of it. As someone who had to deal with sexual harassment in the workplace even after multiple “no”s, this is just too much for me to find romantic. 3.25⭐️, 4🌶, ⚠️"

"⭐⭐ I didn't finish, instantly the main guy made me cringe with his inner dialogue. I feel like a man in his forties wouldn't act like a emo middle schooler. "I'm not nice or have heart." I don't know just wasn't my cup of tea and after reading comments about it I'm probably won't ever finish. I love the concept and the covers, I just think it could have been executed better.
It may have gotten better as you read so keep that in mind."
"The story started off cute and funny then became slow and dragged on longer than necessary. Hard to believe the characters were adults in their late 30’s to mid 40’s from their behaviour and their dialogue (both cringey) at times.
It was a “meh” read for me but I guess it was an okay summer romance or “fluff” read so… generous 3/5"
