"After his sixth grade year, you thought it couldn’t get any crazier. Funny. His seventh grade year at his new school has been eerily quiet. It’s the last day of the school year and he hasn’t been expelled yet! What started as a simple dodgeball game in gym class with some school bullies ends as a death match with giant sized cannibals. Annabeth suddenly appears in his school which can’t mean anything good. The borders around Camp Half-Blood are failing, the magical tree that keeps them all safe, has been poisoned. In the second book in the Percy Jackson series, Percy and his friends again make a perilous journey. They are going to the Sea of Monsters in order to save their camp. Percy will find more out about himself, his family, and maybe his future path.
Okay! This is the last book I can compare to the movie! Again, the movie did not do the book justice!! It takes out a lot of things that make the story flow and make sense! The character development is much better in this book than the first. Clarisse is even more of a turd than in the movie. However the book gave the characters a lot more substance. The actual quest is very much the best part though. The world building isn’t incredible BUT following each character as their gifts reveal themselves is great to read and uncover. The movie very much shortened everything, and changed the entire plot to fit the movie time. If you want to see the true quest and the cunning plans that the gang comes up with, definitely read this book. You feel the emotions and understand the deeper meeting when it comes to these friends as they forego their second quest. It also reveals some secrets that will be important in the next books to come."
