#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The international sensation and blockbuster Hollywood rom com. • "A Pride and Prejudice-like send-up about an heir bringing his Chinese-American girlfriend home to meet his ancestor-obsessed family.” —People “Deliciously decadent.... This 48-karat beach read is crazy fun.” —Entertainment WeeklyWhen New Yorker Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home and quality time with the man she hopes to marry. But Nick has failed to give his girlfriend a few key details. One, that his childhood home looks like a palace; two, that he grew up riding in more private planes than cars; and three, that he just happens to be the country’s most eligible bachelor. On Nick’s arm, Rachel may as well have a target on her back the second she steps off the plane, and soon, her relaxed vacation turns into an obstacle course of old money, new money, nosy relatives, and scheming social climbers.

"I love this series. I didn't even realise it was a book until after I saw the movie and decided to search it up. The book is really good. Quite funny, too and just all round full of Crazy Rich Asians shenanigans, if you know what that is. Not that I do but the book did a great job of explaining it. A solid 3.75 stars!"
"Very funny and satirical "

"This book was fine, but not my genre. I wanted to read something out of what I normally read and I thought I'd like this but it didn't really keep me hooked. I felt like the story ran all over the place and didn't exactly make sense at parts."

""But I can tell you one thing---these people are richer than God."

I've been meaning to read Crazy Rich Asians for forever, and I'm so glad I finally got around to it! This was a pretty amusing read, and I loved reading about these characters.

At times, the amount of background information on characters and locations felt overwhelming, and I found myself skimming occasionally even though I was really enjoying the book. The book felt a little too long as a whole, but I had so much fun reading it. I can't wait to watch the movie!

CW - racism, dogfighting, animal mutilation"
"Crazy Rich Asians the book is so much more different than the movie. Although the movie is an absolute comfort movie for me, CRA the book was by far more enjoyable. Rachel and Nick have been dating for about a year, but she knows very little about his family. She thinks, maybe he’s just embarrassed to talk about them because they’re poor. But little does she know, it’s truly because of the opposite. They’re CRAZY RICH ASIANS. And by Crazy, we mean CRAZY RICH. Rachel doesn’t know what she’s getting herself into until they touch down in Singapore; only to find that Nick kept his family under wraps for a reason. Follow Rachel as she navigates through the glitz and glamour of the Asian elites and her love life with Nick! "
"This story feels like an elaborate setup for future books. Excessive descriptions of wealth can become redundant the further along you read. It feels like there are too many characters without a stationary main character to ground the reader. It takes so long for Rachel and Nick to show up that I forgot about them. Surprisingly, the author describes this as a comedy, but I didn’t see a whole lot of humor. I would love a book all about Astrid. Anyways, I didn’t hate reading it, it just became tedious at some points. Give it a chance, it is still worth it. I haven’t been able to consider tackling the next books though because this one wiped me out. "
