"Such an incredibly sweet and endearing movie of a lonely man looking for love, matched by an equally sweet and heartfelt performance by Ernest Borgnine. Really pleasantly surprised that a performance like this won the Oscar for Best Actor (and the film likewise for winning Best Picture). "

"8/10. Well acted, simple plot about a 34 year old Italian butcher looking for love in New York."

"Comfort of mashed potatoes! When I’m ill, nothing does it like a black and white movie. Still living with Mother, Marty (Ernest Borgnine) is an unlucky-in-love butcher. When he finally meets an older teacher, obstacles come out of the very old wallpaper. "
