With a premise like “guy dates sex doll and thinks she’s real” I expected the movie to poke fun at itself, or at Lars, or lean into sexual humor. It doesn’t, at all. Instead what you get is a heartwarming and, at times, heartbreaking story that loves and understands its characters. The movie understands Lars, and takes the time to make sure you understand him too. I love this movie; it’s as genuine as it gets."

"I initially found and watched this movie as a fan of Emily Mortimer after seeing her in the Movie 'Dear Frankie'. I really didn't know what to expect and wasn't sure if I really wanted to see it and wondered if I was going to turn it off half way. This film is beautiful. I love how the whole town comes together to help this man. It also gets a little funny when the town starts acting like the doll is a real person and gets mad at Lars on behalf of the doll's " real" feelings. I am surprised that the characters don't go to far in bullying and mob mentality against Lars. It's a beautiful film and I feel like a better person to have watched it."
