"This adventure film, or dark fairytale, is much more exciting and action-packed than I thought it would be. I was riveted after the first 30 minutes and until the conclusion of the story. The plot follows a scientist and her father who try to prove that trolls are real, as well as inherent to the Norwegian culture. I liked the fact that the movie wants the viewer to believe in what seems to be the impossible, and.to try to understand it. The acting was good from a players, and the action was suspenseful. 90% Norwegian audio 10% English audio."
"The story, acting, and dialogue in this movie are all horrible, but I went into it expecting as much. The only redeeming thing in this movie is the special effects team that created the Troll. Great design on the troll itself. And that is enough for the type of movie that this is. I enjoyed laughing at the ridiculous dialogue and bad acting while I waited for the Troll to appear again. So bad that it's good."
"Been on my watchlist way too long. This is a direct descendant of all those wonderful 1960’s Japanese monster movies I loved as a kid but this one steeped deep in Norwegian lore. I always used to hate when the metaphor is just so blatant but I’ve come to realize that’s now what is needed in the times we live in. Super cool monster and really cool fX for an underfunded movie. Likeable cast. Solid watch. Norwegian dubbed in English. "
"Extremely derivative & very predictable, the whole movie played out like a mashup of Jurassic Park, Independence Day, & King Kong. I don't know why Billy Campbell was even cast - maybe to use in advertising to increase viewership - he is severely underutilized. The troll design is good & the best parts of the movie involve the old folklorist - sharing troll mythology & the interactions with his daughter. Troll Hunter did all this a lot better in 2010."
"Not into these kinds of movies but this one was pretty good. "
