This has to be the saddest book I’ve ever read 😢

I loved every moment of this book; I couldn’t put it down ❤️

I loved this novel it was very vivid with wonderful recipes. I’m a young mom with a baby boy; the challenges faced by the main character motivated me to work hard.

I grew up in New York City with a strict Caribbean mother so I understand the perspective of Xio. I love relatable this novel was. I felt connected to my past and present as the poems reminded me of what it means to have power in my words.

I loved how I was able to get a real perspective of someone who struggles daily with self love. I also adored how the challenges of darker skin tones and minorities were finally recognized. Definitely recommend; loved the ending.

Loved how realistic this book was. It truly emphasizes what it means to be a teen growing up in the hood. Love all the characters and what they stood for. It was phenomenal; I definitely recommend.

It was good I just didn’t like the way it ended.
