Hasquilina SantiagoI grew up in New York City with a strict Caribbean mother so I understand the perspective of Xio. I love relatable this novel was. I felt connected to my past and present as the poems reminded me of what it means to have power in my words.

Hasquilina SantiagoI loved how I was able to get a real perspective of someone who struggles daily with self love. I also adored how the challenges of darker skin tones and minorities were finally recognized. Definitely recommend; loved the ending.
