"I do understand some of the not so positive comments here but I absolutely loved this show. You do need to pay attention. The story moves quickly from one time to another and it can be tough to keep up with the timelines but it gets super easy after the third episode. A completely different story, while based somewhat on a true story ‘The Familt’ cult in Australia, it’s amazing how one ordinary woman a servant at one point becomes so famously rich cult leader. To see how some of these kids could not survive in the real world and the discovery of what happened to Asha while not a surprise was a tough awakening for Freya. "

"Ok I’m only 2 episodes in but so far very underwhelming considering the strong cast list. Most confusing trying to figure out what is going on. "

Based on cult established by the real-life, Ann Hamilton Bryne who drugged herself, followers and 28 ‘collection’ of stolen children with LSD in a ritualistic trip, known within the cult as “The Clearing”. The show’s preface states that the series of ‘inspired by’ true events but that many aspects have been dramatized or changed out of respect for the victims and for dramatic effect but so far, it seems pretty close to the real story… I’m currently on episode 3 and so far, it’s kept me pretty engaged….will update this as I go…"

"We really enjoyed this captivating, disturbing psychological thriller. It's a fictionalized story of the real life Australian cult, The Family. Interesting tidbit... the Phoenix family all belonged at one time (River, Joaquin and all of their siblings). "
