"I’ve been a huge “Grantchester” fan. Consistently struck the right balance between serious consideration of social issues but with a light and ultimately optimistic approach and with just respect right soupçon of humor. Just watched the season 8 opener and came away feeling it was too grim, too much jeopardy and too “noir.” Don’t get me wrong: I love noir - L.A., Tartan & Nordic. Just am missing the light incandescent touches I’ve come to expect with this show. Just my personal reaction. "
