"Alina is better than me. If I was faced with a Ben Barnes Darkling, I would have folded so quickly. General consensus is right: the book is good, but the show is so much better. It’s more fast-paced and exciting. They changed some things (or added stuff from the sequel and spin offs?? Idk I haven’t read past book 1 yet) which I usually don’t like but it only enhanced the original material!! Can’t wait for season 2!"
"This is one of my favorite shows! The visuals are beautiful and the world that unfolds on screen is amazing. I love the characters and the storyline. It’s a captivating fantasy series that is full of perseverance, strength, love, friendship, and power. Very good show! I hope there will be a season 3."
"I don’t know why I watched this; this isn’t the type of show I would typically watch & I hadn’t read the book. That said…. I enjoyed it. It was interesting. And am I supposed to be THIS invested in the bad guy…or is it just Ben Barnes?!?! 😂"

"It popped on my Netflix for me section, but I didn't watch it. Then I finished a show and wanted something new. This appeared, and the trailer hooked me. I started watching it, and I didn't want to stop.
The first episode is a lot. This is an incredibly complicated world, and a lot of times the vocabulary will go over your head, but that's honestly fine. You get the main idea with everything. There are things that are gonna confuse you that even finishing the show won't answer, but it only makes you want that second season more.
Plus, the characters are fun, realistic, interesting, and deep. They aren't shallow (well, maybe one is, but the goat helps him. You'll understand that after watching it) I enjoyed seeing the three stories and how they eventually came all together in the end. It made the ending so much more satisfying.
It is a tad predictable, but not that any casual viewer might pick up on. Even then some of the surprises are actually a surprise, or you figure them out a few scenes or episodes sooner. (One line by a character in episode 3 revealed a lot about how the ending would turn out, but you might not even catch it.)
Despite the complexity, deep story, and everything else, it is an AMAZING show. Holy frig I did not expect to love it as much as I do. I finished it in a night and 2 episodes the next day. It's so good and the actors are incredible! I wanted to watch it again but knew I needed to wait since the 2nd season would come in a few weeks, and I'd rewatch it then.
I do recommend it to all teens and above. The effects are phenomenal, backgrounds are so detailed, characters are great, the relationships don't feel fake, and I do love me a good villain. Everything he said did made sense, in his own twisted sense of certain things.
It is not for everyone, and it should be a show you watch fully. I'd do things I'm the background, but the show would capture my attention. I'm looking forward to the rest and am so happy with what I got."
"I'm a major sucker for #fantasy , and I immediately fell in love with the outfits, the setting, the characters... #scifi_and_fantasy This movie was also #basedonbooks , but having seen the show, I don't think the books would do it justice. The show creators did a fantastic job bringing movie quality to a television show. #youngadult #someromance #adventure #epic #drama"
"Not the way I would've pictured Alina or Mal. Aleksander is cast perfectly. Read the Shadow and Bone trilogy but feel like the series also covers Six of Crows. Well done. I don't find myself dwelling on how the book was different. (Maybe because of the amalgamation of Shadow and Bone & Six of Crows.) Worth watching even if you haven't read it. "
"4.5/5 – I was iffy coming in because I hadn’t read the series but also excited because Ben Barnes was one of the stars. The show was so good the chemistry the actors portrayed was flawless and the emotions you felt coming across the screen left goosebumps on my arms. I would recommend watching weather you read the books or not, plus the show is coming back for a second season in 70 days! "
