Manji is a crass, violent samurai with a special ability: he cannot die. Cursed with immortality by the nun Yobikuni as punishment for his ruthless deeds, he has grown weary of his ageless life. The only way to lift the curse is to slay 1,000 evil men. So Manji wanders Japan, shedding the blood of the wicked on his quest to finally die.

"This was pretty good. 24 episode series with a lot of action and really interesting characters. More serious in tone and plot, which is the kind I prefer. Got muddled with one two many plot lines about 3/4 way thru but made up for it with a just absolutely fantastic series finale. Best episode of anime I’ve seen so far, which is minuscule. "

"I watched the live action movie first and really liked it. Was super long but engaging dark story telling that's shown more in the anime. I prefer watching it in Japanese because of voice acting quality. But anyway I've gotten to the part with the old lady and the baby. They never showed that in the movie!"
