"This was so eerie! It started giving me heart palpitations within the first 5 minutes. I’ve never seen a horror movie set up the entire tone of its film in the first scene as well as this film did. I’m a geek when it comes to movie scores, and this film’s score was top notch! It was suspenseful and electronic in a way that reminded me of Stranger Things and I loved it. The cinematography was also incredible and really kept you on your toes throughout. My favorite thing about this film though was the analogy of the creature essentially being an STD and being passed from sexual partner to sexual partner. I think that premise was super clever and very original. Would totally watch again!"
"I deeply admire that this film was able to achieve such a high level of intensity with such a minimal plot. It was practically almost all atmosphere, but it was damn near dripping with it. Instead of being driven by a full on narrative, It Follows is driven more by a singular concept. It succeeds as a film because the concept is executed to perfection."
"Okay so the first 4 minutes of this movie are Brilliant it’s Suspenseful and you ask all the questions you should be asking in a horror movie like this what is she running from and how bad is it? But the rest of the movie is just kinda boring and flat with a few cool things here and there but damn..with a Concept like this you can make it so much cooler, fast pace and interesting. But who am I..just a girl on the internet. Hahaha oh the music is good 👍🏻"
"This is supposed to be a supposed to be a horror movie and it’s not even scary. It’s just dumb."

"The only horror movie that takes place in Detroit which I love and is actually good. I actually might just be a little bias from location depiction lol"

"Why, why was this made?! This was BEYOND BORING! It made me so angry how boring it was. It was insulting to the horror genre. The lead actress was awful. I literally wanted her to die so that I didn’t have to watch her anymore. A complete and utter waste of time. "

"I loved the vintage '70s vibe of this movie but I didn't like the ambiguous ending. Luckily there's a sequel FINALLY being made next year called They Follow.
This was a good movie for the Halloween season but Netflix is removing it on October 10th, which is weird. It has this really nice fall aesthetic. The vintage feel is in everything from the neighborhood to the cars and clothes and household decor. The only tv you see is a vintage set in the living room (and also another old one with rabbit ears in Jay's bedroom) and the only thing they watch is old '60s B horror movies. No one uses cell phones. The only somewhat current type of technology is Yara's little clamshell book reader. It's basically a Kindle but in the shape of a vintage clamshell compact mirror. All appliances are vintage '70s. This movie was all about atmosphere and I just loved it!
This is a great horror movie that doesn't rely on gore to tell the story. The only kinda gross thing is at the very beginning but it's not very bad and it's brief. The lead actress is great showing her fear and dread. The movie isn't filled with murder after murder either. This is probably my favorite scary movie of the 21st century and that's saying something because I hate ambiguous endings! Don't go into it thinking this will be your favorite, too. Never hype up anything to the point where reality doesn't meet your expectations. Just watch it and get nostalgic for the '70s and for '70s horror classics like Halloween.
4.5/5*s because I had to take away half a star for the ambiguous ending.
POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW
It sounds like the plot to They Follow may have the protagonist, Jay trying to find the origin of the sexually transmitted curse and track it to its source to stop it. But it's not the definite plotline. The spoiler would be if you didn't know It Follows was about a sexually transmitted curse. "
