"Quite literally could not find it at my library so checked it out digitally on Libby (online library). I have never read a whole book online before but I was on my phone all day. Could NOT set it down. Currently have a hood on a hard copy at my local library for the second book and this is already one of my favorite books/series ever! (And I read A LOT)!! Definitely not for everyone but totally up my speed. The narration kind of reminds me of that from Storm Runner. Mystery with a little romance, nostalgia, some hard topics (16/18+?) and for me it was kind of heartwarming through it all. 5/5"
"Hmm, ok so this was a reread and I don't know what to rate it. I read it in maybe 2017 or 18 and kinda skimmed it out of boredom. I only reread it now because I knew I didn't remember a thing about it and I was in the mood for a Sherlock retelling and the description compared it to Ally Carter and Maureen Johnson, both of whom I am a fan. This time I listened to the audiobook, so there's no such thing as skimming and it's not really comparable, but I don't think I was bored. This book has no plot twist and did not keep me guessing but it does have the Truly Devious vibe, if not quite as engaging. There is a certain character I can only describe as deranged, and at least one of the MCs is genuinely an asshole, but their asshole-ness is kind of explained and I enjoy them as a character. I think the best way to sum it all up is that I'd be here way more for the characters than the mystery. But it also has a good *vibe*. If that makes sense. The sort of vibe I was looking for in the first place so I was satisfied.

Oh, and for a fairly lighthearted story some of the themes are kind of dark, like rape, and drug addiction, specifically a 14 year old being addicted to cocaine and oxy and morphine potentially? There's more but I think those are the big ones."

"This book is pretty good, it’s definitely not the best book out there but it was entertaining and very enjoyable. I feel like the author was trying to make them to much like Watson and Holmes, it should have been less forced and I feel like they should be there own people. Also Jamie feels a bit controlling in the beginning which considering Charolette and him had never met it can come off as a bit weird. Overall this is a good book if you can get over some of the flaws."
