Mason Deaver
From the bestselling author of I Wish You All the Best, comes a new kind of love story, about the bad decisions we sometimes make... and the people who help get us back on the right path. Perfect for fans of Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston and What If It's Us by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli.Just days before spring break, Neil Kearney is set to fly across the country with his childhood friend (and current friend-with-benefits) Josh, to attend his brother's wedding—until Josh tells Neil that he's in love with him and Neil doesn't return the sentiment. With Josh still attending the wedding, Neil needs to find a new date to bring along. And, almost against his will, roommate Wyatt is drafted. At first, Wyatt (correctly) thinks Neil is acting like a jerk. But when they get to LA, Wyatt sees a little more of where it's coming from. Slowly, Neil and Wyatt begin to understand one another... and maybe, just maybe, fall in love for the first time.

"i feel like i’ve seen so much love for this from all the creators i follow on instagram, and i wish you all the best is one of my favorite reads of the year, so i expected to love this one as well. and i was ultimately disappointed. neil just bothered me. at points his assholery felt unrealistic. like how can a person be this ignorant and how is wyatt still putting up with him. the most patient person ever, i think. i think i may just not like reading unlikable main characters. also i REALLY didn't like the ending. it was just so awkward!! i was cringing the entire time. this really just made me want to reread i wish you all the best."

"A 3.7 out of 5 stars. I didn’t feel the main character, Neil, was all that likable in terms of how he treated people around him and kind of shut others down. He definitely grew a lot and I can see and appreciate that. I prefer reading stories with queer characters and would read more from this author. "

"I didn't love it. It made me really sad how he was blamed for his relationship with his family. It's also really sad to see how he was treating Wyatt the whole time. I wish we got to see a little bit more after, more real character development vs him just on his best behavior for a few days "

"My rating is probably more of a 4.75 stars but alas I loved this book a lot!! Neil & Wyatt were so messy and complicated and they were so much fun to root for! Neil’s character growth was top notch because I really did not like him in the beginning"

"I loved this book!!! Mason Deaver is one of my instant pick up authors so I just had to read it. This is the first time I’ve really enjoyed a fake to real dating book, that was done super well. And of course the discussions of gender and sexuality were top tier. The only reason for 4 stars is just because some moments were a bit to cliche like for me, but they weren’t bad it’s just that I don’t usually read romcomy kind of books often. So that’s just based off personal interest. Overall though amazing book, I adore it and definitely recommend! <3"
