Not A Huge Fan Of Sci-Fi and decided to try out Red Rising by Pierce Brown because a lot of people said it was really good. I’m about an hour in and having a hard time. It’s one of those books where you walk into the world and have to “pretend” to know everything about it and as you gradually make progress, you learn more. It’s slow paced and hard to read. Any suggestions on if it’s worth reading? Or if it gets better?

Just finished Mercy of Gods. It's the first book of a trilogy about a science research group who are amongst a group of humains who are abducted by powerful aliens. It was written by the author of The Expanse. How are they going to survive and eventually fight back against the omnipotent aliens? What are your thoughts for those of you who finished the book?

I just finished this one. The art is, of course, exceptional. (As you would expect from a Stan Lee project and Marvel artists.) The story seems to be building toward something pretty awesome. Unfortunately, it's a 1st volume. So there isn't much fleshed out detail. It's apparently Stan Lee's final project. So I have no idea if it will be continued. For any Marvel fans, something happens near the end that all of you should appreciate. I WOULD recommend, if I knew it was continuing.

Has anyone read this book yet? I know it’s based off a podcast. Everyone says it’s for fans of Blake Crouch and Ready Player One, also getting some Matrix vibes (characters noticing that a building that has two windows now has three). Any thoughts, because reviews on Goodreads sound promising!

So I'm a few chapters into this. So far, I have mixed feelings about it. The worldbuilding So far is pretty interesting. The m.c. is solid from the little that I've gotten. The problems I'm seeing are - 1: Lots of name dropping. Lots of characters who, so far, don't seem to have much to do with the story, all in a very short period of time. Apart from the m.c., I'm having a really hard time discerning who's who. 2: The narrative style is very odd. It bounces around a lot, seemingly at random...
