"I wanted to love this movie because I adore the enemies to lovers trope and I heard that the book was good, but the film was just mediocre. The main problem was the chemistry between the main leads. Lucy Hale was giving it all she got, but the male lead was just not up to par. He was great in the more in love moments of the film, but for most of the movie he was trying so hard to be this brooding Mr. Darcy type that came off more monotone than sexy. This was really detrimental to the film, as it made all the scenes that are supposed to be seeped in sexual tension (ya know, the scenes enemies to lovers thrive off of) stale. I’ll give the book a chance, but I can’t see myself sitting down to give this movie another watch. It’s such a shame because the film had such potential, it just wasn’t executed properly."
