A man ahead of his time, Cyrano de Bergerac dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. But, convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of a devoted friend, the luminous Roxanne, Cyrano has yet to declare his feelings for her—and Roxanne has fallen in love, at first sight, with Christian.

"Peter Dinklage.... It took me two viewings to fully appreciate this. My interest in musicals is very fickle so I have to revisit sometimes. Definitely better the second time around. It is bittersweet and touching in the final act. I did cry in the end. This is one of my favorite stories because it is the tragedy of human kind that we give love but some can't dream of it in return. Oh, but our hearts and minds can create dreams bigger but pride and humility do bond our dreams to sometimes the smallest shadow. Take heed. "
"Let me begin by saying that I didn't know that this was a musical, so I was little surprised. There are a good number of songs, and a couple of them are catchy, but overall that's not why I liked this movie. The acting is good, and there's a couple of strong characters that make the movie special, especially Peter Dinklage as Cyrano, who expresses unrequited love very well. He is witty and charming, but feels like he is still unworthy to win the beautiful maiden. The movie looks beautiful, and I think that is where it shines. There is obviously a great love for the story of Cyrano de Bergerac and it is expressed in the set designs, lovely costumes, and the beautiful cinematography. I will end this by saying that I didn't realize how heartbreaking this tale really is."
"I went in only knowing the source material and that Dinklage was in it. When they first burst into song I was shocked. But then I was awed at this wonderful movie. Director Joe Wright has been good for a long time. But what I didn’t know and who blew me away was Haley Bennett. She acquits her self way more than adequate playing the epitome of beauty and gives the most amazing performance. Her voice is angelic. Oh, and there’s some very good action scenes as well. Can’t believe this was only nominated for best costumes. Deserved much more. "
"I myself already am a pretty big fan of musicals in general so I was intrigued by the trailer and wanted to see it . Watched this last night finally on prime and I really enjoyed it(but i am pretty into poetry as well as well done period pieces ) I found the music beautifully done and peter dinklage was phenomenal in it imo so I was enchanted all the way through . If any of that is your thing I highly recommend this ! "
"Maybe I was living under a rock, but I never heard of this musical. I didn’t know what the play was about, and after about 20 minutes I almost threw in the towel. It does get better and picks up later on in the film. I wasn’t a fan of many of the songs, but the plot got better and that held my attention. I however, did not enjoy the ending."
"So beautiful! The heart is pure, the mind unsure. "
