gracieThis was a fun read! I've been in a reading slump for far too long and reading this was a good step to getting out of it. The characters were witty and fun, not to mention the super entertaining plot. I loved how obsessed Rowan was with Sloane and how he was constantly there to help her through her insecurities and trauma. He was unhinged but in a very adorable way haha. I feel like I should have seen the plot twist coming but I was so entranced with the romance that I didn't catch it before it happened! In all I really liked this book and it's probably one of my favorite romcoms up to date.
gracieOkay...this book was too cute. It balanced heavy topics and sweet romance so perfectly. I felt myself giggling and kicking my feet on multiple occasions LMAOO. Now onto the heavier stuff, Shannon went through *so much* that NOBODY deserves to go through. Not to mention her home life that left me absolutely heartbroken for her. So many times I wished I could do something, anything for her but I realized I'm just a reader on the other side of a piece of paper. This book broke me in two but Johnny was the light in Shannon's life and the hope that everything would be okay. I just love this book so much. If you're looking for the trope that's like "popular guy pursues invisible girl" then it's definitely a book worth reading.
gracieThis book was great with a few downsides. I saw the author's vision and the plot was fantastic, not to mention the world building was pretty great as well. However, I decided to take 2 stars off for 2 reasons. #1, I noticed multiple spelling mistakes and sometimes sentences were left unfinished!! It was a little annoying and many times I wanted to reach in the book and edit the mistakes myself 😂😂. The author really needs to go back and read through it again, as the amount of mistakes was unacceptable. And #2, the author often went on tangents, taking paragraphs to explain a single train of thought. Like I said, the world building was great, but in some cases there were too many info drops and I found myself skimming through different points of the book out of boredom. Yet through all this, I still decided to give the novel 3 stars instead of 1 or 2 because, like I said before, I saw their vision and the plot was entertaining. The author has good writing aside from the tangents and it is very imaginative. I liked it a lot! But yes, it needs to be read by a professional editor.
gracie****MAJOR SPOILERS****Okay, this was good. I think that Fourth Wing was definitely better than this one, Iron Flame was lacking the polish that the first book had, it seemed rushed. HOWEVER, I still think it deserves 5 stars. I have so many theories! The ending of the previous novel when Liam died destroyed me, and it was nice to get a little bit of him in this book too as Violet was hallucinating him....unless she wasn't hallucinating him at all. What if she could actually see the dead, and Liam was actually there?! Also- there's got to be something going on with Violet's father, he's talked about too much to just stay dead. And if Violet could talk to Liam, mayyybe she could talk to her father and get a cure for Xaden. So. Many. Theories. Sooo excited to see how Xaden prevails, and how they keep their relationship strong despite everything. I need the third book now!
gracie*SPOILERS* HOLY CRAP! This deserves wayyy more than 5 stars!! I seriously thought that Dain was going to be the one but it was a Tamlin situation?!? I should've seen it coming...and I kind of did with how Yarros described Xaden. Okay, but can we talk about how awesome Violet is? I feel like a lot of the time the fmc in fantasy books and just novels in general get a lot of hate for being "whiny" or "annoying" but I honestly didn't get a lot of that from Violet. She was physically weak but kept her brain sharp and even when she was whiny it was for good reason. I mean let's be real- we would all be way more obnoxious if we were in her situation. A scribe forced to be a rider? Wow. And Tairn!! I love how he gave so much protective father energy. Andarna was so cute. Anyways, I could go on and on about this book but I won't for time's sake. I CANNOT wait for the second one to be released, I'm getting the hardcover immediately. And if you haven't gotten the point, PLEASE READ!
