SarahI have mixed feelings about this book that I’m having trouble putting into words. You know those moments in sci-fi tv shows that act as the in-between from the action? I love those moments. I love getting to know the characters and seeing their personalities shine through. Well, this book was one big ‘in between’ moment, or series of moments for me. The problem was, there was nothing on either side of the in between so it felt like I was…missing something? Was it fun? Sure. Were there some moments of profound realization and commentary? Definitely. But with very little stakes and not even say, a time limit to complete the task, there was no urgency for me. I wasn’t really invested because there was nothing driving the pace of the barely there background plot. So while I enjoyed getting to know the characters and seeing the beautiful world building and character vignettes, admit I was looking for more adventure. I’m not inclined to read the next book in the series.
