The story of a young group of siblings pretty much abandoned by their parents, surviving by their wits - and humor - on a rough Manchester council estate. Whilst they won't admit it, they need help and find it in Steve, a young middle class lad who falls for Fiona, the oldest sibling, and increasingly finds himself drawn to this unconventional and unique family. Anarchic family life seen through the eyes of an exceptionally bright fifteen year old, who struggles to come of age in the context of his belligerent father, closeted brother, psychotic sister and internet porn star neighbors.

"Most people review the American version of Shameless as their preference. However, the U.K. version of Shameless is my favorite by far. Shameless is not a family show, rather, it has a lot of goofy gratuitous casual sex with plenty of naked boobs and erection humor. To put it mildly, there is blatant drug & alcohol use, naughty language, general contempt for laws and rules. The characters in both versions care for each other and despise each other. Both accurately depict the endless petty misdemeanors that are often committed in an effort to make money. It demonstrates the crippling petty consequences that keep poor people as impoverished and unhealthy as possible. It depicts the stress of the threat of losing necessary family social services as punishment for one person’s crime. These are real social problems that exist in the name of law, order and justice. Shameless is relatable and it uses humor to show the truth and necessity of poverty in the “developed world”. A huge foundation of people who lack resources are integral to hold up the few at the very top who are vastly wealthy. Think of a pyramid. Just watch it. "
