"▪️FINAL REVIEW/UPDATE:
Based upon the bestselling novel by the same name, this adaptation turned out to be a 3/5 stars for me — Overall, the series was good (the ending wrapped up nicely), but this series was nowhere as riveting as other book-to-series adaptations like BIG LITTLE LIES, for instance. In fact, this series at times felt a little “sleepy” to me, and it actually seemed to slump somewhere between episodes 5 & 6, but despite this, the final episode did make up for that.
▪️Overall, while the book was an easy-to-read, quick-paced page-turner; the film adaptation was only a “watchable” mystery, with only a hint of suspense & thrills — Good, but not great 👍🏾
▪️ I have to add that I MOST enjoyed the episodes that featured The University of Texas campus & the city’s surroundings — in the story, the characters travel from their home in #Sausalito, CA to #Austin, TX in order to figure out the truth behind the missing father/husband’s disappearance.
▪️INITIAL REVIEW:
Seems to be staying mostly true to the book. Good production values — the camera angles in tense moments & the slow, mysterious music really help set the tone of this thriller that starts out with the setting in #Sausalito, CA. However, the sound of the seagulls, the soothing soundtrack, & the beautiful ocean scenery ALMOST lull me to sleep while watching— so I suppose one could say this is (so far) a #cozy #mystery #thriller; it’s slowly unfolding & is not-so-quick-paced, at least not yet…. But I’m looking forward to episode 3 which will be set in #Austin, TX "
"I couldn’t stay awake, everytime I put it on I instantly fell asleep without even getting through the first episode. Finally got through it and all I have to say is meh. "

"SPOILERS!!!!!!
Remember how we bitched about your dad leaving you these past 7 episodes? Remember how I said we're a team and I promised I'd never leave you? Remember the note where my one sworn duty was to protect you? Well goodbye child! I'm leaving you in the hands of social services because we know that always works out well. But before then you'll be with the FBI who we already know has been infiltrated by the mob that was chasing us down to kill us and who you may end up with anyway because they're your next of kin. But wait they want to kill you so you'll actually be moved to an undisclosed location with a change of name so I definitely wont be able to find you, once I've finished my wild goose chase to find your father, who let's face it, had plenty of chances to preemptively prep us for this bullsh*t disaster. But you know, love and stuff"
