"FINALLY got to read the book that inspired my favorite movie of all time. It leaned a bit more towards the suspenseful/scary side and I LOVED it. You could actually feel the fear that would course through your veins if you encountered one of those dinosaurs. A book you'll blast through as soon as you pick it up "
"3.75 star.<br/><br/>Wasn't too interested in the beginning it was pretty much an investigation from many pov's. Malcolm was my favorite of course. He was so annoyingly smart but his theories were fascinating. Even though Malcolm played by Jeff Goldblum was aggravating as hell in the actual book I found him to be hilarious. Still quite annoying though haha.<br/><br/>Honestly it was pretty close to the movie except of course you got a lot more detail into Malcolm's theories and also a greater aspect of the problems that could occur if something like this were to take place. And to be quite frank a lot more people died. I found it fascinating from the mere fact that just on a small island you could destroy all of humanity. The scientists cared nothing for the repercussions of what they had done only that they were first. I got a lot of great insight from this story and very much enjoyed it.<br/><br/>"Are you sure they can't hurt us?" Asked Lex "Pretty sure." Said Grant. ( ̄ー ̄) <br/><br/>Good grief this book made me never want to have kids ever. I almost wish they would have gotten eaten early on.The kids definitely helped the last 2 hours drag. Scott Brick did a great narration. Also Hammond was much more careless and cruel than I thought. So still a great movie and book but also had it's differences. You always get more out of books it's just a simple fact."
"I thought that I had already read Jurassic Park. However, I recently heard someone talk about it and thought I would read it again. I quickly realize that I had not read the book. That somehow I skipped over it.
People who have read this book explain it as gruesome and horrifying. It’s none of those things. Maybe it’s a sign of the times. Or maybe I got the PG version. Crichton is detailed with many things, but the Dino attacks seemed weak. Almost as if his stomach couldn’t handle describing what he was thinking. He chose the kid friendly version. I’m not going to mention names, but a certain other author would have left no stone unturned when detailing the slaughter a dinosaur would’ve made on a human meat sack. Also this book is the first Ive read where I thought the movie was better. They chose the most interesting characters or made characters more appealing, picked the popular dino’s, and action elements to create a blockbuster movie. Trimmed the fat and made a better script from the book basically. But, Jurassic Park is a good book. It’s worth the time spent reading. It’s not too gory for older children or young teens. It’s right in their wheelhouse. I enjoyed it."
