Stephen King
King's highly acclaimed novel, now with a stunning new cover look. WHAT IF you could go back in time and change the course of history? WHAT IF the watershed moment you could change was the JFK assassination? 11.22.63, the date that Kennedy was shot - unless . . . King takes his protagonist Jake Epping, a high school English teacher from Lisbon Falls, Maine, 2011, on a fascinating journey back to 1958 - from a world of mobile phones and iPods to a new world of Elvis and JFK, of Plymouth Fury cars and Lindy Hopping, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake's life - a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time. With extraordinary imaginative power, King weaves the social, political and popular culture of his baby-boom American generation into a devastating exercise in escalating suspense.

"After spending 26 hours listening to this book.....I cried big alligator tears when it ended. I had let myself become so engrossed in this book over the week and a half that I read it.....that I simply felt like I was part of the Jody, Texas family. Stephen King has a habit of writing a story that makes you become endeared to the characters only to kill one or two of them off. That ALWAYS tugs at my heartstrings but I am used to it since I am an avid fan of his books. However, since time travel is the main point to this story....good things can happen ALTHOUGH not always how you want them too but in a better way after you take the time to think about it a bit.

I was amazed by the concept of this book and the effort Stephen King took to make 1958 thru 1963 as realistic as possible. I could envision every little detail and felt as though I was there with Jake Epping/George Amberson......feeling, smelling, tasting, hearing & touching all that he did. The characters were well fleshed out and it made you feel part of the community by reading about their daily interactions. The 'monsters' in this book were not the usual paranormal monstrosities that King comes up with but rather the dark people who have demons possessing their minds and the confusion they deal with by trying to live a 'normal' everyday life while struggling with their demons.

As for comparing this book to Stephen King's other novels......I felt he has finally reached perfection with this story. The details of life and the characters and the nuances of a time gone by......all were so realistic and imperative to making a very dark time in our history come alive again. Jake and Sadie were a true example of the perfectly imperfect romance and it was so much fun to be a part of their ups and downs, hence my broken heart when the story ended.....I am truly going to miss spending time with them in all their sweet imperfections....

Basically.......this was a great way to spend 26 hours of my time and I thank Stephen King for taking years of his time to make this incredible novel accessible for the masses to embrace and enjoy."
"One of the best booked I’ve ever read. Constant twists that kept me guessing the entire time and the intertwining of lives is so well done. "
