"Hey, this actually wasn’t half bad 😅 ... A bit of an unsatisfying ending (which seems typical of most horror flicks), but at least it wasn’t overly “hammy” with sub-par acting 😔 I mean, c’mon it’s Octavia Spencer, after all! 👍🏾 … And it has a great supporting cast, including faves like Juliette Lewis, Allison Janey (with a small, but fun bitchy role), Luke Evans (as a former high school heart throb), & Missy Pyle (who typically always gets the “fun,” snotty girl roles, & here she plays a former high school sleeze, who’s just as sleezy as an adult 🤭). The comment made by @sonia_barajas prompted me to check this out (saying this movie felt like a bit of a mashup between NIGHTMARE ON ElM STREET and THE BREAKFAST CLUB). It also gave me ‘MISERY’ vibes (holding a victim handcuffed to the bed) and MOMMY DEAD & DEAREST vibes (Munchausen syndrome) … It’s predictable & NOT SCARY and NOT SUSPENSEFUL AT ALL — HOWEVER…. It was #entertaining & #fun to watch “Ma” shock her victims with some of the batshit crazy stunts she pulls, & it’s a decent #revenge plot “horror” flick that’s worth a casual watch, especially if you’re like me who turned it on with very low expectations, thinking it wouldn’t be any good at all. ⭐️3.25/5⭐️ "
