"When a Julia relocates to Bucharest for her husband's job, she becomes increasingly paranoid that someone is watching her after she hears the news of a serial killer in the area. It's a slow burn and most of the "watching" is actually done by Julia. I mean this girl is watching everyone and lets her imagination run wild. But in the end she gets to say "I told you so!" Not great but an interesting watch. 6/10"
"A bit too slow but has a certain creep factor."

"𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 is such a chilling and elegant psychological horror/thriller that’s very subtle & much more realistic. It has a classic feel like “rosemary’s baby” that I liked a lot. They do a good job of making you feel isolated and lost in translation (unless your Romanian) along with her. The silence of the film is loud and the noise seems even louder. I do feel the character Julia made very questionable choices throughout the film. It’s a very slow burn that kept me glued to my screen. "

"Extremely slow burn with an abrupt ending that was both satisfying and absolutely unsatisfying. POSSIBLE SPOILER I would like to have seen what words he and she would have with each other. One pointed look was not nearly enough.
There were moments of suspense that had me feeling panic, so that was good. I'm just surprised this was a Shudder movie. It wasn't a slasher and there was very minimal gore, if you can even call the one scene "gory". I thought the acting was quite good and I really felt for Julia being practically all alone in a strange (to her) country where everyone spoke a foreign language and she never knew what was being talked about. I felt her husband was a bit douchey sometimes, too. He also didn't always help her to understand what was being discussed and I'm pretty sure he lied to her when he told her what was being said on the tv. And therein lies another pro or con with the movie, depending on what you prefer. There were no translations for the dialog so we, as the viewers, felt exactly how she felt. That was interesting and I did like it but on the other hand, I would like to have known what was being said. We were just as in the dark as she was. It is very isolating and claustrophobic, like, get me out of here! I need to be where I understand and am understood!
When I said it was a slow burn, I meant excruciatingly slow. To the point where I think a lot of people would find it boring. I did not find it boring. I've always loved a good, slow burn. Anyway, I was intrigued by the preview and I'm not sorry I watched it. If you do watch it, I'm quite interested in your review and what you thought of mine. Do you agree or disagree with my thoughts? Let me know!
