"I LOVE A GOOD REVENGE FILM. Throw in some comedy and this blood soaked, violent, mayhem filled masterpiece is a super fun watch. I love the voice of H.Jon Benjamin as the comedic inner voice of Boy, who is deaf and mute, played by a jacked Bill Skarsgard. They are in total contrast but work so well together. I kind of knew what to expect from the trailer, so I wasn't disappointed, but this movie really amped it up more than anticipated, even adding an unexpected twist in the final act. The violence can be gratuitous and cringe worthy at times, like the creative use of a cheese grater in a fight scene, but that just made me appreciate this movie more. I didn't expect it to be as hysterical as it was. I found myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions.
If you like the action to be bloody, and your comedy to be twisted, then I highly recommend this thoroughly entertaining flick. 9.5/10"
"I made plans to see another movie but when it was time to go, it was no longer playing in a theater. So this was the next option. A pretty good one at that. A jacked Bill Skarsgard plays a deaf mute in this vengeance action comedy. It has that seemingly popular cartoonish, yet very bloody and gory, violence. Great fight scenes, cool cast. Wasn’t a fan of the anxiety inducing score but can live with it. Skarsgard is one jacked, sexy dude and I’m very excited after seeing the very impressive trailer that was before this, his remake of The Crow. "
"At first I wasn't sure if I vibed with this in the movie in the beginning you are not given very much information in regards to storyline and you have this narration guiding you through. Then the movies goes absolutely bonkers and bat **** crazy and you are locked in captivated, squirming, and cringing. As someone who watches a lot of horror movies the gore got to me in this one and this is a freaking action film. The ending will have you screaming at the TV literally what the **** in the best way. Highly recommend to watch this one "
"A deaf mute boy raised by a dude in the woods. Trained to fight/kill and get revenge on the government for killing his family. This movie is more style over substance. Hyper violent some some decent fight sequences. He hallucinates his dead sister and has a running monlouge in his head voiced by the guy from Bob's Burgers. It's cool at first but gets old since the writing isn't all that good and half of thr jokes don't land. There is a nice twist that doesn't have the impact it should. The tone was way too silly and light. The same with the final confrontation. He just felt out out play with the wieght it represented versus the light hearted nature of the film despite it's blood and violence. Too many other action movies done much better than to watch this overly long action movie with not much of a story. "Brutal, entertaining and very funny, a movie that develops well, despite the story being simple and even predictable. The performances are great, especially the development of the main character, whose narration is very funny. The action scenes are really incredible, brutal and very cool, you can't help but get caught up in the movie."
