"4⭐️ Is it possible this sequel is more unhinged than the original? The latter is definitely better but this still manages to be chaotic fun despite some things that could have been done differently. But it, like the first, is a film that just needs to be experienced for what it is. Burton does not change his macabre fanciful aesthetic one bit, recreating the off-kilter, unworldly unreality only he is able to imagine in that alien-esque brain of his. You either like it or you don’t. Plus the cast is SO good ~ perfectly spot on and delightfully demented. They all definitely understood the assignment.
When things go off the rails is when it works best for me. The zaniness starts in low gear, getting zanier as it goes, until it just doesn’t know when to stop .. which had me dying 🤣 (That cake was never coming back inside‼️🎂🌧️)
What I would have changed is keeping the plot more singular. Too many subs seem thrown in and don’t get enough space to be meaningful. I would have limited it to the mains working to defeat B, and either expand the Monica Bellucci storyline or the boy’s or even the father’s. As shown they’re more distractions that don’t contribute effectively to the core plot. Jenna’s character was also typical with the rebellious teen angst and woe is me attitude. It worked with Winona before but not so much here. I wanted her to be stronger. And have a personality. I did miss Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin. A shame there wasn’t a way to include them as their presence would have added heart, continuing the thread of found family from the buoyant conclusion of B1. I get why though.
Imo it may not match the first one but it’s still worthy of it. The humor really does hit. There’s also a ton of nostalgic moments referring back to the original. Plus a great soundtrack. I mean who WOULD NOT want to get on the Soultrain! It makes the afterlife look like a disco funk blast. And kind of, I did have a blast.

"Tim Burton continued his quirky, offbeat vision in this sequel, accurately capturing the aesthetic of the original... Albeit, 36 years later. They really packed a lot into this one, dare I say, too much. Everything was amped up from the special effects and makeup, the eccentric humor, to the characters and subplots. So much was packed in that it made the movie feel a bit rushed. Also, they could have sacrificed a subplot or two to give Beetlejuice more screentime. Jenna Ortega fits into the cast seamlessly, she was a good choice for the role. Overall, it's a fun watch but I don't think they did it better than the original. Maybe it'll grow on me, time will tell. 8/10
In loving memory of BOB.

"The original film is a tough act to follow, but this sequel managed to fill its big shoes. It maintained the first film’s charming strangeness and hysterical hijinks while elevating it to a modern age. I loved sooo many things about it. Catherine O’Hara was the clear standout for me. If she was humorous in the original, than she is laugh-out-loud hilarious in this film. I never stopped laughing when she was on screen. Michael Keaton was, of course, marvelous, bringing the zeal of the Beetlejuice we know and love. Jenna Ortega was also a breath of fresh air in this cast. She brought a sense of reality and sincerity that grounded the movie. The plot was entertaining as hell. It was a rollercoaster. I never knew where it was going and I was just happy to be along for the ride. The movie isn’t without its faults though. The plot is structured strongly from the beginning and the middle but kind of flounders at the end. It’s like Burton needed to quickly tie up loose ends which left some plot holes, albeit minor ones. Another critique that pains me is of Winona Ryder. Winona is my GIRL. I love anything she’s in but her performance was definitely the weakest of the principle cast. It just wasn’t there in comparison. Over all though, this film really lived up to the hype!!!"
"They should’ve left the classic alone and not make another one, even though there were some parts that were funny. This movie was really bad."

" A somewhat darker and occasionally goofier sequel. With a lot more subplots than the original and side characters. Though I suppose it is still a worthy follow up.
It just needs to grow on me a little. It definitely is rushed though. When we want to spend more time with these characters. Especially Beetlejuice."
"I am not sure what I thought of this film. I knew most of the plot. Some things surprised me as there were no hints to go off of for some of it. I got like at least 90% of the plot correct with my guesses though. I think I would watch it again, but I don't think this is one I would buy. I enjoyed the first one better. "
"I enjoyed this movie its not close to the classic film, but it was still a good watch. The acting was great especially Keaton’s performance. It has the same weird vibe from the original, but it’s just more modern. Lastly what I have to say is the only uncomfortable thing was the ending. "

"I liked it. It was weirder than I expected it to be but kept the tone close enough considering the 30-odd year gap. I appreciate that they kept the sand worm claymation although updated it to not look so fake. I think the multiple stories were doing too much. They were all good storylines just not long enough to really flush them out. I think simplifying it or lengthening the runtime would have helped make it feel less rushed. "
