The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House

"This was my comfort show for some time, so it took me a while (I mean weeks) to watch the last episode since it was so short and didn't feel like a show that'd have a second season. I recognize that it was slow and there wasn't much of a storyline, so my 5⭐ rating may seem strange, but there was something so calming about just sitting and watching it. The style reminded me a lot of the (also Japanese) movie Call Me Chihiro, so if youve watched one and liked it, definitely watch the other too! "

"I stumbled on this show not knowing much about Geishas, Maikos, or Makanai. The pacing of this show is perfect - it is all about quiet moments, the sweetness of the main character, etc. It might take a little googling to grasp basics but then you really get absorbed in the characters and plot. "
